Some of you maybe having a hard time looking for a ways to tweak your phone. Previously, this blog already posted a tutorial on how to root any android device particularly with newly released ones or locally branded and budgeted android smartphones or tablets mostly inbuilt with MediaTek chipset. The fact that there are only few android developers, most of them are developing international branded android devices.

So here it is. A complete guide to properly install or flash CWM Recovery to your MediaTek android device. Please follow carefully the steps to successfully apply this to your android device without any problems.

Things you need:

A MediaTek android device (MT65XX)
Your phone must be rooted already. How to root?
USB Chord
Windows PC/Laptop
Download ADB Drivers
Download MTK Droid Tools for Windows

How To Flash ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery on Any MediaTek (MT65xx) Android Device

1 Download necessary files above.

2 Install the downloaded PDANet to your computer. It contains ADB Drivers.

3 Turn on your android device and connect it to your computer using USB Chord. (Make sure to Enable USB Debugging, go to phone Settings -- Developer Options -- Enable USB Debugging.)

4 From your computer, open MTK Droid Tools that you have downloaded above and extract it to your desired location.

5 Open MTK Droid Tools.exe from the extracted folder (Run as administrator). Wait for the tool to detect your device. (If UBIFS warning appeared in the status message, this process will not work for you. Only ext4 supported.). Notice on the bottom-left part of the tool, a YELLOW color indicator means that your android device is does not have root shell yet. If it is GREEN already, proceed to step 7.

6 Click ROOT button to enable root shell your device. Wait for the progress bar on the Status, see your phone to Grant Superuser access. If the color indicator turns GREEN, then you have successfully enabled root shell for your device.

7 Now, select the Root, Backup, Recovery tab and and further choose To Use Boot From Phone from the selections. Click Recovery and Boot, a message prompt will appear "To make CWM recovery automatically", click YES.

8 Wait for the tool to build the CWM recovery and another prompt will appear "install patched boot to phone?" select YES, wait a little bit more and another prompt will appear again "install created recovery to phone", now select YES.

9 When the tool ask you to reboot your phone to recovery, click Yes and it will reboot to CWM recovery shortly. Check out your new custom recovery.

Note: Read carefully the messages that appears on the status bar.

Congratulations! You now ClockworkMod custom recovery on your MediaTek android device. You will now enjoy apps that requires Superuser rights, mods and ROMs that requires flashing from CWM.

If you have read and understood what is a custom recovery, you will surely be wanting to port it into your MyPhone Agua Rio.

This article will be presenting you a guide how to install TWRP or CWM Recovery to your Rio. What you will need to do is carefully read the steps for this to be successful.

TWRP / CWM Recovery for MyPhone Agua Rio

Required: 

• Superuser rights (Root Access). 
• Updated Busybox installed (download Busybox Installer and install it to your phone. Open the app and install the Busybox binaries on /system/xbin/)

1 Download Recovery Installer app below that corresponds your MyPhone Agua Rio Model and Firmware version then place it to your SD-card.

• For Rio version S5500, click here.
• For Rio version S5501, click here.

2 From your device, find Recovery Installer.apk in your SD-card and install it normally. (If you can't install it, go to Settings - Security - and check Unknown Sources. Now install it again.)

3 Launch m|p RIO Recovery Installer app from your app drawer.

4 Select the recovery you wanted to install. (TWRP and CWMR are custom recoveries. Stock Recovery is the default recovery installed by MyPhone.)

5 Confirm the Installation. (Wait for the process to be done.)

6 Finally, reboot your phone to recovery. (Turn off your phone then press and hold Volume up + Volume down + Power button all at once then further choose volume up for Recovery)

7 Enjoy flashing!

Alternative Method (Without using Computer)

1 Download and Install Mobile Uncle from Play Store

2 Also, download this already created CWM recovery image for S5500 or S5501 v1.06, if its not your model, you have to find a way to get an image otherwise do the first method using Recovery Installer. Place it anywhere on your SD-card

3 Open Mobile Uncle Tools from your app drawer and click Recovery update.

4 Look for the recovery.img that you have downloaded on step 2 and select it.

5 When prompted to flash the recovery, select OK. Wait a little while.

6 If the process goes well, go to Into Recovery Mode and select Reboot into recovery mode, press OK.

7 Your MyPhone Agua Rio will now boot into ClockworkMod Recovery mode.


If you can't boot to your custom recovery after trying the methods above, you have to follow this method from the link below in order to fix and reflash CWM recovery for your RIO.

2 Entract or unzip the Odin Flashing Tool

3 Turn Off your Samsung Galaxy S5 and boot to Download Mode by holding Volume Down, Home and Power buttons all at once. Then press Volume up to proceed. 

4 From your computer, run Odin.exe application as administrator.

5 Connect your phone to your computer via USB Cable. (Your phone must be detected by Odin. If not, reinstall your phone drivers.)

6 Uncheck Repartition. Click PDA button then select the philz_touch_6.26.6-klte.tar.md5 file that you have downloaded above.

How To Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900*

1 From your computer, extract CF-Auto-Root file that correspond your phone variant which you downloaded above. Extract it to a folder.

2 Open the Folder where you extracted CF-Auto-Root. Notice that it contains a CF-Auto-Root.MD5 file type and Odin v3.exe something like that (it depends on your variant). If there's no Odin app included, Download it Here.

3 From your device, reboot your phone to Download Mode. Press and hold down Volume Down + Home + Power buttons all at ones when your phone is off, stay until you see a warning interface. Press Volume Up button to continue the mode.

4 From your computer, run Odin v3 app as admin from the folder where you extracted the files.

5 When your phone is on download mode, connect your phone to your computer via USB cable. Your device must be recognized by Odin, if not install the proper drivers for your phone and repeat the process. If your phone was detected, it will be showed on Odin's status.

6 Click the PDA button and select CF-Auto-Root-....tar.md5 file from the folder you have extracted earlier. Make sure Repartition is NOT checked then click Start button.

7 Odin will now begin rooting your phone. When it is done, PASS!! status message will appear on Odin's Interface and your phone will automatically reboots.

8 Your phone must now be rooted. To verify it, check your app drawer if there's SuperSU app installed. Download and install Root Checker from Google Play Store to see if your phone is completely rooted. There are times that your phone may not root at the first attempt. It is safe to retry.

2 Once installed, open the app and tap Menu then select Install OpenRecoveryScript, tap Yes.

3 Confirm if it is your device or select it manually and hit Yes. The file will download and your device will install the recovery automatically.

4 If it's done, tap Reboot recovery and confirm it. Your phone will now reboot to your new recovery.

Step 4 Go to your device Settings > Wireless and Networks > Tethering and Portable Hotspot and tap USB Tethering to enable it.

Step 5 Wait for your computer to detect your android device, process and configure your adapter and IP. Notice that the Network Connection icon on the lower right side of your computer is connecting. If not, install your device drivers.

Step 6 Wait for your network to be completely established before trying to browse the internet. If you can browse then you are done, if not, repeat the steps until you are able to connect.

Previously, I have written about how to create a WiFi hostpot on Windows 7/8 computer without using any software, so now, what this article is going to show you is how will you able to create a WiFi hotspot using your favorite android phones and how will you be able to share your internet connection with it.

What we need for this tutorial is an android phone and another android phone or devices which is WiFi capable just to test if created our network is working. In android term, we term WiFi hotspot as WiFi tethering, this is how we will gonna it.

Create a WiFi Hotspot using Android Phone

First, you must have a working internet connection, connect your android phone's data connection to be used as the source of your internet connection. To do that, go to Settings > Mobile Networks > Data Connection. A signal type should appear (H, 3G, LTE, E) above your signal icon on status.

Now to create a WiFi hotspot, go to Settings > Tethering and Portable Hotspot and set your hotspot configurations, Network SSID is your WiFi name, Security is for security type (you can set none so it will not require for password) and Password for your WiFi password then hit OK if you're done. If you're done setting up, mark Portable Wi-Fi hotspot check to turn it on then you're good to go.

To connect your other devices, simply turn your WiFi on and find the WiFi name that corresponds your config, connect to it, enter the password and you're done.

2. Type this command in the command prompt:

netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=hostpotname key=hotspotpassword

3. If the "hostednetwork" has been successfully set up, then proceed on starting the WiFi hotspot by typing:

netsh wlan start hostednetwork

*** Make sure you're not using your WiFi when creating hotspot else it won't start. ***

4. To stop WiFi hotspot, type:

netsh wlan stop hostednetwork

Using Ad Hoc Network

1. Open Network and Sharing Center from Control Panel > Network and Internet. Click Manage Wireless Networks and click Add.

2. Continue setting up Ad Hoc Network by clicking Next.
3. Configure your WiFi Hotspot. Enter your desired WiFi name, password, and security type then click Next. You may save the network if you want this settings to be used in future.

4. Wait for the configuration to be completed then close it. Check on your WiFi status if the hotspot has been set.

5. Done!
