But the least for the developers can do is make a mod that will guarantee its functionality on a specific Rio version that's why another custom ROM came to bring MyPhone Agua Rio another look.

From the popular Oppo OS, here comes Rio Color OS

Things you need:

MyPhone Agua Rio S5501 unit
Rooted - visit here to root
TWRP or CWM Recovery - visit here to get custom recovery
RioColorOS ROM - download here

Installation:

1. Download and RioColorOS_by_Marion.zip and put it to your Rio's SD card.

2. Boot to custom recovery. (CWM/TWRP)

3. Backup your phone. If you don't know how, here's how to backup on CWM or TWRP.

4. Wipe data/factory reset, Wipe cache, Wipe dalvic cache.

5. Go to mounts and storage, format system.

4. Go to Install Zip from SD card.

5. Choose RioColorOS_by_Marion.zip and proceed to install.

6. Wait and reboot. Done!

Additional Notice:
Take note of some ROM issues:

Key board is not working properly so you have to manually fix in settings.

Language and Input
Choose Oppo Keyboard as Default

Internal Storage is not accessible in PC only External Storage will be detected.(may be because the phone where the original ROM came from has is non expandable.

To show the carrier icons like the one in the screenshots just go to Display tab and tap Carrier info then choose Show carrier icon.

You can add more Gesture under General tab > Gesture &motion.

Custom ROM for MyPhone Agua RIO

Switch your MyPhone Agua Rio looks!

Finally, custom ROM available for MyPhone Agua Rio! This will be the much-awaited opportunity for MyPhone Agua Rio users to take their loved device out of the box and have another taste and experience the performance of the most popular smartphone looks present in the android smartphone industry.

I will not prolong your excitement because on this article, I will be presenting you the collection of awesome Custom ROMs available for your adored MyPhone Agua RIO. Preparation:

Backup your ROM, follow this guide how to backup.
Backup your files in your internal and external storage to computer or somewhere safe. ROMs with swapped features formats your internal/external storage.
Charge for phone at least 70% to avoid interruptions.
Download the ROMs below which suits your RIO model and put it to your storage.
ONLY Flash the ROMs in CWM / TWRP recovery, NEVER flash in Stock recovery. Here's how to flash CWM / TWRP recovery in your RIO.

How to flash custom ROMs in MyPhone Agua RIO?

Flashing on TWRP:

1. Place the downloaded custom ROM in your RIO's storage
1. BACKUP
2. Reboot to TWRP.
3. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
4. Advanced options - /Wipe Dalvik/Cache/System/Data
5. Install Sample_ROM_.zip (depends on the ROM name) and wait until it's done.

If the ROM has a patch/add-on, Install Sample_Patch_Add-on.zip (depends on the patch name).

7. Reboot System
8. Wait and enjoy!

Flashing on ClockworkMod Recovery:

1. Place the downloaded custom ROM in your RIO's storage.
2. Backup ROM if don't have one. Follow this guide how to backup.
3. Reboot to CWM Recovery
4. Wipe Data/factory reset, Wipe Cache Partition, go to advance, Wipe Dalvik Cache
5. Select Install Zip from SD card
6. Select Choose Zip from SD card
7. Choose "Sample_Rio_ROM.zip", depends on the ROM's file name.
8. Install
9. Wait until it's done.

If the ROM has patch/add-on, flash it immediately after flashing the ROM. Select Choose Zip from SD card, choose "SamplePatchORAddon.zip", depends on the file name (gapps, etc..).

10. Reboot system now

IMPORTANT

It is always recommended to make a backup before doing anything in your phone. So make sure you do so. So that in case you need to bring your phone to service center or for whatever reason, you can restore it to stock/factory state configuration.

This is based on stock rom (1.15). This means that you CANNOT do a CWM or TWRP data backup of your Lewa or MIUI ROM and restore after flashing this rom. If you do, you might get into bootloop (flash another ROM to fix that). You can still try, but you may not be successful.

Instructions:
1. Download the Stock ROM and place it to your phone's SD card storage
2. Reboot your phone to Recovery mode (CWMR or TWRP)
3. Do Wipe Data/Factory Reset, then Wipe Cache Partition, go to advance and Wipe Dalvik Cache
4. Install Zip from SD card
5. Choose Zip from SD card, select the Stock ROM that you have downloaded.
7. Select YES to Install
8. Wait until its through
9. Reboot
10. DONE!

For Flashing UPDATE v1.2

Instructions:

1. Download the UPDATE v1.2 and place it to your phone's SD card storage
2. Reboot your phone to Recovery mode (CWMR or TWRP)

TWRP / CWM Recovery for MyPhone Agua Rio

If you are done rooting your MyPhone Agua Rio, next top will be flashing TWRP or ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery for your smartphone. Rooting is not that enough for you to enjoy custom mods and ROMs as most of them can be applied through flashing from a custom recovery. If you have read and understood what is a custom recovery, you will surely be wanting to port it into your MyPhone Agua Rio.

This article will be presenting you a guide how to install TWRP or CWM Recovery to your Rio. What you will need to do is carefully read the steps for this to be successful.

TWRP / CWM Recovery for MyPhone Agua Rio

Required:

Superuser rights (Root Access).
Updated Busybox installed (download Busybox Installer and install it to your phone. Open the app and install the Busybox binaries on /system/xbin/)

1 Download Recovery Installer app below that corresponds your MyPhone Agua Rio Model and Firmware version then place it to your SD-card.

2 From your device, find Recovery Installer.apk in your SD-card and install it normally. (If you can't install it, go to Settings - Security - and check Unknown Sources. Now install it again.)

3 Launch m|p RIO Recovery Installer app from your app drawer.

4 Select the recovery you wanted to install. (TWRP and CWMR are custom recoveries. Stock Recovery is the default recovery installed by MyPhone.)

5 Confirm the Installation. (Wait for the process to be done.)

6 Finally, reboot your phone to recovery. (Turn off your phone then press and hold Volume up + Volume down + Power button all at once then further choose volume up for Recovery)

7 Enjoy flashing!

Recommended Method using Computer

Refer to this main thread for flashing Clockwork Recovery for your MyPhone Agua RIO any version.

Alternative Method (Without using Computer)

1 Download and Install Mobile Uncle from Play Store

2 Also, download this already created CWM recovery image for S5500 or S5501 v1.06, if its not your model, you have to find a way to get an image otherwise do the first method using Recovery Installer. Place it anywhere on your SD-card

3 Open Mobile Uncle Tools from your app drawer and click Recovery update.

4 Look for the recovery.img that you have downloaded on step 2 and select it.

5 When prompted to flash the recovery, select OK. Wait a little while.

6 If the process goes well, go to Into Recovery Mode and select Reboot into recovery mode, press OK.

7 Your MyPhone Agua Rio will now boot into ClockworkMod Recovery mode.

If you can't boot to your custom recovery after trying the methods above, you have to follow this method from the link below in order to fix and reflash CWM recovery for your RIO.

How to ROOT MyPhone Rio?

Do you want to Root your MyPhone Agua Rio but can't find how? Here is a trick you can use to your cool android device. MyPhone Rio is one of the most affordable yet powerful smartphone out there, so I won't be surprised if there is someone who will try to uncap its full performance.

By checking out MyPhone Agua Rio's Specs and knowing its good price tag, I will not be surprised if too many android users aspire to purchase and tweak this phone.

Note: There are times that rooting doesn't get successful on first attempt, so you can try it over again. Further, please backup your current ROM or your data before proceeding.

Disclaimer: As always, you are responsible for any damage it will cause. Rooting may void your warranty, unroot it to regain it.

There are two ways to root your MyPhone Rio:

1. Root it without using PC, via Framaroot (the easy way, TESTED and RECOMMENDED)
2. Root it by using a computer (untested, no one has sent me any feedback yet)

How to ROOT MyPhone Rio by using Framaroot

1. Download Framaroot.apk credits to xda

2. Move Framaroot.apk to your MyPhone Rio local or external storage, any location you want and install it. (Make sure you have enabled installing apps from Unknown Sources to install this, go to Settings - Security - check "Unknown Sources").

3. Now, open the installed Framaroot app, select "Install SuperSU" and tap "Barahir".

4. Reboot your phone.

5. Check if there is SuperSU app in your app drawer.

6. Done. Enjoy!

How to ROOT MyPhone Rio using Computer

You need:
1. PC/Laptop
2. MyPhone Rio
3. USB Cable

Step 1: First, download ADB driver as well as Root Genius. Install the driver and extract Root Genius to your desired location.

Step 2: Set your MyPhone Rio in USB Debugging mode. Go to Settings > Developer Options.

Step 3: Connect your MyPhone Rio to your PC/Laptop,

Step 4: Open Root Genius (make sure to run it as admin), your device must be recognized, if not, install your ADB drivers first. If your phone was recognized, press "Root Now" to start the process.

Step 5: Wait for the process to be completed and your phone should reboot, if not, reboot it manually.

Step 6: Done. Check your app drawer if there was superuser or supersu app installed and use apps like root checker to verify that your are fully rooted.

So far rooting process are safe even if it fails. Try it and leave a comment if it's a success. GOOD LUCK!
