Steps on how to flash TWRP

1. Download TWRP recovery and save it on your phones storage (preferably SD-card).

2. Download and install Rashr Flash Tool. 

3. Open Rashr Flash Tool, tap Recovery > Other from storage and find the TWRP recovery image: CM_FlareS3_TWRP.img

5. If asked to continue flashing, select Yes then Reboot to recovery.

6. Once you successfully booted in TWRP recovery mode, it's done.

It's been a tough week for me that I haven't made much update with my blog as I was busy programming a system. Going back, have you got custom recovery working on your MyPhone Ocean Lite android smartphone? If not yet, you are lucky to get bumped on this webpage.

Here's CWM-based custom touch recovery for you

For those who are not aware of what type of device you have, Ocean Lite's has a different kind of file system from which the actual Clockworkmod custom recovery do not support officially. That took android developers a hard time to get CWM recovery ported to this kind of Mediatek device. Fortunately, with the work of the great Carliv, thus, made this problem solved amazingly.

How To Flash Carliv Touch Recovery on MyPhone Ocean Lite?

Following this guide, finally, you will be able to install Clockworkmod-based recovery on your MyPhone Ocean Lite. After this, you can flash any flashable mods as much as you want just like using CWM. If you're, it's time to start the flashing. 1. Put the myphone_ocean_lite_ctr.img to your SD Card.
2. Install MTK_Mobile_Uncle_Tools_2.9.5.apk.
3. Open/run MTK Mobile Uncle Tools.
4. Go to Recovery Update.
5. Then select myphone_ocean_lite_ctr.img.
6. There will be pop ups, just choose Yes.

Note: If myphone_ocean_lite_ctr.img doesn't show on Recovery Update, rename it to "recovery", it should be like "recovery.img". If doesn't work, try Rashr - Flash Tool instead of Mobile Uncle Tools.

For Rashr - Flash Tool

Instructions: (Before anything else, PLEASE MAKE A BACKUP)
1. Put the myphone_agua_hail_cwm.img to your SD Card.
2. Install Rashr.apk
3. Open/run Rashr - Flash Tool
4. Press Flash Recovery
5. Then select myphone_ocean_lite_ctr.img.
6. There will be pop ups, just choose the positive buttons xD (Yes, yes).
Note: If myphone_ocean_lite_ctr.img doesn't show on Recovery Update, rename it to "recovery", it should be like "recovery.img". If doesn't work, try the instruction for MTK MobileUncle Tools.

Flash CWM on Cherry Mobile Omega Spectrum running Kitkat

Disclaimer: Make sure to follow every steps in this tutorial. Failure to do so will results on boot-loop or hard-brick. If there’s a steps you don’t understand, it’s better to ask before you proceed.

1: Download DFU Flasher and extract it.

2: Download the CWM recovery made for Omega Spectrum running Kitkat and move it to the extracted DFU Flasher inside images folder (if other recovery exist, rename it.)

3: Open the Downloaded DFU Flasher.

4: Double-click install_driver.bat. Follow the install wizard.

5: Double-click dfu.exe (don't mind errors, just click OK).

6: Click load and choose recovery.cfg (click OK if there's an error).

7: Click Browse and navigate to the downloaded DFU Flasher open variant folder, double click images.

8: Click Download and click Start.

Now, turn OFF your Omega Spectrum and plug it into your computer via USB Cable.
The DFU Flasher will start by first detecting your Omega Spectrum then it will start flashing.
Wait for the success message then proceed to disconnecting the USB Cable and reinserting the battery.
Enter recovery by holding Volume Up and Power button simultaneously.

Having problems with flashing recoveries on your device? Android users like you might get some interest on today's article. As most of us, android users, who wants to tweak their phones, we can say that the mostly-used region when applying modifications is the recovery partition. But what if you can't get your recovery installed in your device? That's the question that we will going to find a solution.

Flashing a recovery is easier with the use of apps such as Mobile Uncle Tools, Rashr Recovery Tools, and other utility apps, also, we can perform image flashing through ADB or through terminal emulator but for Mediatek, there is one method which supposed to be the best method of flashing images but somehow quite took for granted, through SP Flash Tool is the method I am talking about. Some apps might not work in an MTK device, but with Mediatek's very own SP Flash Tool, it works like a charm!

Below is the complete guide how to flash a stock or  a custom recovery for any Mediatek device, but though from that fact, you must provide the proper image to be flashed to your device or else it will mess it up. We made up all the steps to make it easier for you to do this successfully. All you need is focus and a little brain.

How To Flash Stock/Custom Recovery Using SP Flash Tool

Only follow the steps provided. Applying the procedure means you are fully responsible for the possible outcome of your device. If you are confused, read the steps again, if you hesitate, do enough research.

Things you need:

• PC/Laptop running Windows
• MTK-based device: MT6595, MT6592, MT6589, MT6582, MT6577, MT6575, MT6572, MT6573
• Scatter File for your MTK device - Get it here
• SP Flash Tool - Get it here (download the recommended or latest version)
• Drivers - Download here
• USB Cable

Preparations:

Download and install the Drivers (click the Install bat file and wait for it to finish the installation so don't close it). Create your own scatter file if you don't have one, it differs from each MTK device. Download and extract SP Flash Tool. Finally the recovery (stock or custom/CWM/TWRP) which is made for your device (make sure it is named as recovery only not cwm_recovery, etc.), don't flash recovery that is not made for your device.

Instructions:

1. Open SP Flash Tools and click Scatter Loading, now select the scatter file of your device.

2. Make sure all boxes are NOT checked, if there's a check, remove it by clicking the check.

3. Now, click RECOVERY from the list. A new window will appear, find the recovery image that you want to flash or install and click Open.

4. It will now look like the image above. The RECOVERY is the ONLY one checked on the list and you can see the location of the recovery image that you are going to flash.

5. TURN OFF your android phone. When it is already off, click the Download button on the SP Flash Tool, then click Yes. After that, connect your switched-OFF phone to your computer using USB Cable.

6. The tool will detect your phone and flash the recovery, if your computer can't detect your phone, re-install the Drivers that I have provided. Wait until a prompt with green circle will appear, that means the flashing is done successfully.

Congrats! You are done flashing the stock/custom recovery for your MTK-based device.

Note: There should be only one result when you select Recovery Update since you are not connected to the internet. It should be the one "Recovery file in SDCard2 or SDCard1"

7. Tap recovery.img (the one that is saved on your Sdcard or Phone Storage).

8. It will prompt you if you are sure to flash recovery, tap OK.

9. Reboot to recovery, OK.

3. Optional, backup your current ROM. Go to backup and restore select backup.

4. Now, select Wipe data / Factory reset, select Wipe cache, go to advance and then Wipe dalvik cache.

5. Select install zip from SD card, then select choose from internal / external SD card (wherever you put the Stock ROM.zip). Select the Stock ROM.zip and wait for it to install the stock ROM.

6. Once it's done, select Reboot system to restart your phone.

Instructions:

1. Download and install USB Drivers on your computer. This will allow your computer to detect your device even on Preloader.

2. Download both SP Flash Tool and Stock ROM then extract them to any preferred location you like in your computer.

3. Don't plug-in your phone yet. Open SP Flash Tool.exe then click Scatter-loading then find and select MT6582_Android_scatter.txt in the folder where you extracted Rio Lite's Stock ROM.

4. Make sure that the Preloader, DSP_BL, Cache, and Usrdata are NOT checked and others must be checked. Now turn OFF your phone. When your phone is already turned-off, proceed to step 5.

5. From SP Flash Tool, click Download then immediately connect your phone to your computer using USB Cable, don't turn-on your phone.

6. When you see a red and blue colors loading at the bottom of SP Flash Tool, it means the tool detected your device and it will restore the Stock ROM of MyPhone Rio Lite so just wait.

7. When the below image appears, you are done reverting to Stock ROM. Now, disconnect the USB Cable from your phone and turn on your MyPhone Rio Lite.

Congrats! You have now the Stock ROM.

This will be my first article about Cherry Mobile development! On this article, we will discuss all about the development of Cherry Mobile Omega Spectrum (CMOS) specifically on rooting, flashing custom recovery preferably ClockworkMod (CWM) recovery and ROM / Firmware as well.

Before anything else, we have to fully know what comes with Cherry Mobile Omega Spectrum. We will start with its full phone specifications in order to know what this Omega Spectrum is capable.

As you can see, Cherry Mobile Omega Spectrum has Broadcom Technology on-board. If you have noticed, Spectrum has been manufactured with a rare chipset architecture which made it difficult to mod due to the lesser number of developers of this kind of device having same architecture. In this case, there's a lot of Spectrum users tend to worry a lot and regret from buying the smartphone since it has low development potential.

How To ROOT Cherry Mobile Omega Spectrum

Rooting an android phone nowadays is as easy as installing an app, no need of fancy and a lot of stuffs, the same goes well with Spectrum. Aside from the popular Framaroot rooting android app, another android application has the same function with Framaroot plus with added features, called RootMaster.

Instructions:

1. Download and install RootMaster app on your android phone. (To install it, make sure installing from Unknown source is enabled on your phone's Settings -- Security.)

2. Open RootMaster app on from your Spectrum's app drawer.

3. Tap Get ROOT.

4. Wait for the process to be done. Reboot your phone and verify it by installing Root Checker on your phone.

Fortunately, Cherry Mobile Omega Spectrum currently has a CWM recovery port available. This is already a good start. Soon, we will be able to have TWRP and I will also try my best to provide one. For now, let's enjoy the CWM Recovery for Spectrum.

Flashing ClockworkMod (CWM) recovery on Omega Spectrum

Requirements:

• Rooted Omega Spectrum (Old build version) - Please backup your Stock Recovery first if you're not sure or else it won't boot to recovery, follow this guide.

• CWM recovery image for Spectrum - Download Here

1. Download all the requirements and put it in your SDcard.

2. Install Recovery Tools app which you have downloaded above. (Make sure to enable Unknown source is enabled on your phone's Settings -- Security to install it.)

2. Open Recovery Tools on app your phone's app drawer. Wait and grant Superuser rights / root-access.

3. You will be asked to backup your current recovery, please proceed to make a backup. There are cases that the backup will not work, this separate guide is our alternative way to backup the current stock recovery. If you have the backup stock recovery already, keep it just in case we encounter issues then proceed to step 4.

4. Now, tap on Flash Recovery and select Other from Storage.

5. Find and select recovery_cwm_cmoSpectrum.img and wait for the flashing to finish.

6. When asked to Reboot to recovery, select YES.

7. Wait for your phone to reboot in CWM recovery to verify the changes.

8. Done!

2. Reboot your device to Recovery mode (either CWMR or TWRP)
3. Wipe all data/factory reset, then Wipe cache partition, go to Advance and Wipe dalvik cache
4. Select Install Zip from SD card
5. Choose Zip from SD card, select the Stock ROM that you have downloaded.
7. Select YES to Install
8. Wait until its the installation is done
9. Reboot and you are done.
