Flash TWRP on Cherry Mobile Fuze S

Rooting Fuze S was already enough actually if you were only just to use it for apps that need root access. However, if you really want to install custom recovery flashable ZIP's, you might really need a custom recovery first like the popular Team-Win Recovery Procject commonly known as TWRP.

To begin the flashing, here the guide for you:

1. Download TWRP_recovery.img that was made for Fuze S.

2. Place the recovery image anywhere on your storage (SD-card).

3. Download and install Rashr Flash Tool. (You may also use Mobile Uncle Tools but the steps may differ.)

4. From your phone, open Rashr Flash Tool, tap Recovery, select Other from storage.

5. Locate the TWRP_recovery.img that you have downloaded earlier.

6. Begin the flashing by choosing Yes. Wait for a few seconds and it will ask you to Reboot to recovery mode, proceed by agreeing.

7. Check if the TWRP recovery is working and it's done!

2. Open Root Checker then select Verify root access.

3. Wait a little while until you see you root status.

4. Done!

For a few Flare S3 users having a previous knowledge with rooting and flashing tweaks with their old android devices, I am quite sure they are looking for an answer for this and even if they do have it discovered, they still hesitate for what will be the outcome for doing so. For the relief of Flare S3 owners, today's blog article will be showing you the fried and toasted way to root Cherry Mobile Flare S3 in the easiest way it could be.

How to Root Cherry Mobile Flare S3 running Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

The steps below are proven and tested to work on most versions of Flare S3 running 4.4 Kitkat. The users tried to do the steps below and sadly failed didn't harm their phones.

Root via Phone

Requirements:

• Cherry Mobile Flare S3
• KingRoot
• Root Checker (Download from Playstore)

Rooting Steps:

1. Download KingRoot.apk. Make sure it is in your phone's storage.

2. Install KingRoot.apk. If installation was blocked, go to your phones Settings > Security> Unknown Sources (mark it check) then reinstall.

3. Open KingRoot, tap Root to proceed rooting.

4. Wait until the rooting process is done. A check mark appears once you have successfully rooted your Flare S3.

If you saw that image after the rooting process, then you have rooted your phone. But wait, we need to verify if the rooting was properly done. Restart/reboot your phone then follow the steps below:

Verifying Root Access:

1. Install Root Checker.apk

2. Open Root Checker then tap Verify root access.

3. Wait for the app to check your device. If there's a prompt appeared, Grant it.

4. Once done, a message will showing your phone's root access state.

5. Done!

If you have failed with this method, try the best alternative which is Rooting Flare S3 via PC/Laptop.

Root via PC/Laptop

Requirements:

• Cherry Mobile Flare S3
• USB Cable
• PC/Laptop
• PDAnet USB Drivers
• iRoot - mirror

Rooting Steps:

1. Download and install iRoot and PDAnet.

2. From your phone, go to Settings > Developer options > USB debugging (mark check).

3. Connect your phone to your computer using USB cable.

4. Open iRoot.

5. Click Connect Device and wait for it to detect your phone. (It may take few seconds to detect).

6. Click Root and wait for the app to root your phone.

7. It may automatically restart your phone. It's normal.

8. Wait for iRoot to show that rooting was finished and whether if it is a success or failed.

9. Verify your root access using Root Checker. (Same steps shown above).

ROOTING SUCCESS!

But wait, there's more! You may recognize that the installed superuser manager was a Chinese app. If you want it change like the usual SuperSU app, follow this guide:

1. Download and install SuperSU from Playstore.

2. Open SuperSU and it will prompt you "The SU binary needs to be updated". Click Continue.

3. Wait for the update to finish. Once done, go to SuperSU's Settings.

4. Find Trust system user and mark it check.

5. Select install SuperSU into /system then click Continue.

6. Once done, it should automatically restart/reboot your phone, if not, reboot it manually.

7. Done! Notice that Chinese su manager is gone. You can uninstall other Chinese apps if you want to.


Congratulations! You have successfully rooted your Cherry Mobile Flare S3.

It's been a tough week for me that I haven't made much update with my blog as I was busy programming a system. Going back, have you got custom recovery working on your MyPhone Ocean Lite android smartphone? If not yet, you are lucky to get bumped on this webpage.

For those who are not aware of what type of device you have, Ocean Lite's has a different kind of file system from which the actual Clockworkmod custom recovery do not support officially. That took android developers a hard time to get CWM recovery ported to this kind of Mediatek device. Fortunately, with the work of the great Carliv, thus, made this problem solved amazingly.

How To Flash Carliv Touch Recovery on MyPhone Ocean Lite?

Following this guide, finally, you will be able to install Clockworkmod-based recovery on your MyPhone Ocean Lite. After this, you can flash any flashable mods as much as you want just like using CWM. If you're, it's time to start the flashing. Note: If myphone_ocean_lite_ctr.img doesn't show on Recovery Update, rename it to "recovery", it should be like "recovery.img". If doesn't work, try Rashr - Flash Tool instead of Mobile Uncle Tools.

For Rashr - Flash Tool

Instructions: (Before anything else, PLEASE MAKE A BACKUP)
1. Put the myphone_agua_hail_cwm.img to your SD Card.
2. Install Rashr.apk
3. Open/run Rashr - Flash Tool
4. Press Flash Recovery
5. Then select myphone_ocean_lite_ctr.img.
6. There will be pop ups, just choose the positive buttons xD (Yes, yes).
Note: If myphone_ocean_lite_ctr.img doesn't show on Recovery Update, rename it to "recovery", it should be like "recovery.img". If doesn't work, try the instruction for MTK MobileUncle Tools.

Flash CWM on Cherry Mobile Omega Spectrum running Kitkat

6: Click load and choose recovery.cfg (click OK if there's an error).

7: Click Browse and navigate to the downloaded DFU Flasher open variant folder, double click images.

8: Click Download and click Start.

Now, turn OFF your Omega Spectrum and plug it into your computer via USB Cable.
The DFU Flasher will start by first detecting your Omega Spectrum then it will start flashing.
Wait for the success message then proceed to disconnecting the USB Cable and reinserting the battery.
Enter recovery by holding Volume Up and Power button simultaneously.

Preparing the Flash Tool

1. Extract the .rar file anywhere in you computer.

2. Open the folder where you extracted the file.

3. Run got to SP Flash Tool folder and open Flash Tool.exe

4. Click Scatter-loading, you can find the button at the left side of the window

5. Find the scatter file inside the folder of SP Flash Tool.

1. Power off your phone

2. Take out the battery

4. From SP Flash Tool, click Download at the top of download agent

5. After clicking Download button, a prompt will appear. Just hit YES.

6. After hitting YES, connect the USB cable and wait untill the green circle appear! That means you have successfully flashed the CTR/CWM to your phone..

Testing the Custom Recovery

1. Take the cable off

2. Insert the battery do not turn on it yet!

3. Press volume up + volume down + power at the same time.

5. If the phone turned on, press the volume up for booting to recovery.

The much-awaited Kitkat update for Cherry Mobile Omega Spectrum arrives

If you are one of the Cherry Mobile Omega Spectrum users, I'm sure you are not going to miss out this newest Cherry Mobile treat, the Android KitKat 4.4 software upgrade. Currently, Android version 4.4 known as Kitkat is the latest android version from which officially came out on the month of September 2013. Now, it came to Omega Spectrum just this month and a lot of users mobbed the service centers aiming for a Kitkat 4.4 update on their owned Cherry Mobile Omega Spectrum.

How to update Cherry Mobile Omega Spectrum to Android Kitkat 4.4

Note: Backup all your files including contacts, apps, images, musics and videos, and your files in your internal storage, phone storage and SD card.

Android Kitkat 4.4 Key Features:

Important: Your Omega Spectrum must have Stock Recovery not custom recovery installed. Follow this guide how to get back to Stock recovery.

Additional Notes: After getting the Kitkat update, most mods made for Cherry Mobile Omega Spectrum running Jelly bean 4.2 may not work or might even brick it. You need to wait for the devs to release mods made for CMOS running Kitkat 4.4.

Procedure:

1. Download Omega Spectrum upgrade here: http://www.cherrymobile.com.ph/phoneupdates/spectrum/H600_Kitkat4.4_ota.zip

2. Insert your SD card to your Omega Spectrum.

3. Copy the H600_Kitkat4.4_ota.zip to your SD card using a micro USB cable plugged in to your computer.

NOTE:
a.   Please do not unzip the file. Just copy and paste it to your SD card.
b.   Please make sure that is the only .zip file that is on the SD card ( to be sure have your SD card formatted and delete the folders and files on your SD card except the H600_Kitkat4.4.zip ).

4. Turn off your Omega Spectrum.

5. When the Omega Spectrum is turned off. press the power button + volume up button for 5 seconds you will feel a vibration.

6. Choose english. To navigate, use volume up to scroll up and down to scroll down and press the power button to confirm.

7. Navigate again using the volume up or down button to select "apply update from external storage". Press the power button to confirm.

8. Navigate again using the volume up or down to "H600_Kitkat4.4.zip" and press the power button to confirm.

9. The upgrade will start, there will be yellow phrases. the last phrase will be "Install from sdcard complete".

10. Navigate again using volume up or volume down to select reboot system now press power button to confirm.

11. There will be a prompt that "Android is upgrading" please wait until it is finished. Upgrade to Kitkat 4.4.2 version of Omega Spectrum is now completed.

Congratulations! You have successfully updated your Omega Spectrum to Android Kitkat 4.4. Enjoy!
